Varaha, the boar, appeared in the Satya Yuga to rescue Earth from the depths of the cosmic ocean. When the demon Hiranyaksha stole the earth and hid her in the primordial waters or cosmic ocean, Lord Vishnu appeared as Varaha to rescue her. Varaha slew the demon and retrieved the Earth from the ocean, lifting it on his tusks, and restored Bhudevi to her place in the universe. Benefits: It is believed that worshipping Lord Varaha brings all kinds of happiness to the devotee including health and wealth. Half boar half-human Varaha had defeated Hiranyaksha and destroyed all evils. Thus, devotees worship him and pray for goodness to prevail.
