How to Jumpstart Your Morning - Best Advice for Your Morning Routine

A simple morning routine can help make the difference between an OK day and a GREAT day. Waking up late, guzzling a cup of coffee, and rushing out the door isn’t the best way to start the day. If you start your day feeling rushed and stressed, those feelings will likely continue throughout the day. No worries my tired friends, we’ve got the steps to help you jumpstart your day with another Wellness 101! Step One: There is No Snooze It might feel good to grab a couple extra zzz’a by hitting the snooze button, but all it’s really doing is setting you behind for the rest of your if it’s just a few minutes. The next time your alarm goes off, put your feet on the turn it off. Grounding yourself immediately, gives you a sense of purpose and intention to start your day. You’ll be amazed how much more you’ll get done in the morning by skipping the snooze. Step Two: Stretch It Out A lot of us may feel a little stiff after a good night’s rest. Stretching helps to loosen your muscles and joints, improving your range of motion and making it easier to move throughout the to mention reduces stress and improves your mood. Take the time to stretch first thing when you get body will thank you for it. Step Three: Drink Water Our bodies use up a lot of energy when we’re sleeping, and when we wake up, we’re actually dehydrated. Drinking a large, cold glass of water helps your brain to stay hydrated and can improve mood swings and fatigue. It’s also great for flushing out toxins and boosting your metabolism. Step Four: Enjoy the Sun When sunlight hits your skin, it triggers the release of serotonin, a hormone that helps to boost your mood and energy levels. Just 20 minutes of daylight exposure each day is enough do the trick. So try to get outside with your favorite morning beverage and enjoy the fresh air as soon as possible. Step Five: Rip Some Reps I’m not talking about a full-on workout session here. This is just an opportunity to make your physical self more present. Just 12-15 reps of exercises like pushups, sit-ups or jumping jacks is enough to get the blood flowing and improve your mood. You got to start somewhere folks. These steps may seem if done daily, you are definitely going to see a change. Before long, you may even start to add in things like meditation, journaling or a full fledged workout. Just keep at it, and we will make a morning person out of you yet!
