Bach / Karl Ristenpart, 1960: Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, BWV 1049 - Allegro

#Bach #JSBach #Baroque #ClassicalMusic In this 1960 recording, German conductor Karl Ristenpart (1900-1967) leads the Chamber Orchestra of the Saar in a performance of the first movement of the Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, BWV 1049. I created this music video from a Nonesuch cassette I purchased in the early 1980s. Ristenpart was working under contract for Saar radio, but because the region was under French administration in the years following the second world war, Ristenpart’s performances of Bach’s works originally were recorded by Club Français du Disque in Paris. Movement 1: Allegro All images you see in the video are from the cassette case and from the cover. Nonesuch was a budget label so all there are are the images you see -- no liner notes were included in the cassette.
