Camden Council Vandalism (1970-1979)

Unissued / unused material. Colour item. Camden Council Vandalism, London. News report about Camden Council’s deliberate wrecking of block of Victorian Flats in Hampstead (Camden Court). The block had fallen into disrepair so the council moved the tenants out to more modern (and more expensive) flats. To stop squatters moving in, the Council sent wreckers in to salvage floor boards and tiles and generally make the place inhabitable. A group of volunteers from the Student Community Housing Group have done repair work to some of the flats. Female reporter interviews following outside or inside the derelict flats: Don Ryan of Student Community Housing Group, former tenant Lou MacDonald and Councillor John Mills.
