Ralph Vaughan Williams - She’s like the Swallow arranged for classical guitar by Igor SIrotinsky. A New Collaboration with my partner, wonderful cameraman Wim Vandekerckhove and the 1929 art deco monument Villa de Bondt, Ghent, Belgium. “Vers la Vie“ by Geo Verbanck in Villa De Bondt. From the 1920s to the 1940s Geo Verbanck was one of Ghent’s most important sculptors. He was commissioned to make numerous busts, memorial stones and monuments. He initially worked in an elegant art nouveau style, but in the 1920s evolved towards a simplified and more austere design in the style of the then prevalent art deco. Vers la Vie / Towards Life is one of a series of pieces in which he rendered the successive phases of a woman’s life. It was first carved in white marble and then in limewood. This golden version of the statue was owned by architect Jan-Albert De Bondt (1888 – 1969) and stood in villa De Bondt for years. It left the house shortly after the War and in February 2021
