Malawi children caught in middle of climate change effects | UNICEF

Malawi is facing its worst drought in 30 years and its worst food crisis in nine years. Two years of erratic rain and drought have combined with one of the most powerful El Niño events in years to wreak havoc on the lives of the most vulnerable children. Cases of severe acute malnutrition are life-threatening for young children. UNICEF is supporting mass screening in most of the country’s district to prevent and identify malnutrition as well as delivering therapeutic foods for treatment. __________________
