Mak Yong

Mak Yong is a dance drama performed by women and accompanied by male musicians. The dance dates back a few centuries, during the animist period, and was later, briefly performed in Malay courts. This dramatised story is about legendary princes and princesses enacted by female dancers and male clowns. The dance is also performed as an art of healing and therapy.
