Trevor Paglen Shows Us How Computers See The World (HBO)
The artist Trevor Paglen is putting the finishing touches on “The Atlas of Invisible Images,“ his latest work examining the troublesome intersection of technology and surveillance. Essentially, a deep dive into how artificial neural networks learn and and perceive images, Paglen built his own deep learning AI and trained it himself to learn how the thing worked -- what it saw, how it saw it, and whether that’s a good thing in a world where images are increasingly created by and exclusively for other machines to interpret.
