SDS pipeline excavation begins

Crews recently began excavation for the installation of a 9-mile section of the Southern Delivery System (SDS) pipeline in southern El Paso County. The trench will be approximately 10-feet deep with 5-feet of ground cover over the 66-inch diameter steel pipe. For the entire SDS project, approximately 62 miles of buried pipeline will be installed originating at Pueblo Reservoir and ending in southeast Colorado Springs.
