Iridescence SD 480p

From Composer Louis Anthony deLise: I created the track for “Iridescence” as a birthday gift for my dear friend, oboist and composer, Nancy Rumbel. I first composed and then recorded all the piano, electronic keyboard, and percussion parts at my studio in New Jersey. I sent a mix of that basic track to Nancy who then composed and recorded the oboe melody. In building the track, I used a wide array of percussion instruments including a “wine bottle xylophone” (made from bottles my wife and I “collected” during lockdown!), my antique Deagan marimba, antique Constantinople K-Zildjian cymbal and other small instruments from my collection, including a scrap metal bushing I use as a bell! Nancy Rumbel is one of music’s most successful and enduring instrumentalists and composers. She has recorded with many important musicians, including David Lanz; The Paul Winter Consort; and guitarist Eric Tingstad, with whom she formed the Grammy award-winning duo, Tingstad & Rumbel. Louis Anthony deLise is an American composer, pianist, and percussionist. His beautifully poignant writing is often described as “Post-Genre,” as it often features the juxtaposition of disparate musical elements including serial technique, frequently changing meters, the urgency and drive of rock and roll, and the lush harmonies of 1960’s Cool Jazz. Louis has garnered many awards for his writing, including from the National Flute Association for a recent concerto entitled, Salone del Astor. He has also arranged and conducted on hit records for pop star, Patti LaBelle, and written orchestral arrangements for jazz pianist, Peter Nero. The music of Louis Anthony deLise is available in print from Metropolis Music Publishers, bvba and Alry Publications at Recorded at deLise’s Black Walnut Studios in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Nancy Rumbel’s Water Garden Studios in Bellevue, Washington. Louis plays a Yamaha C3 grand piano, and records using a Digital Performer workstation and the Studiologic SL88 Grand midi controller. Mastered by Peter Humphreys.
