Emigrants (1914-1918)

Emigrants - off coast of Humberside? Ship (tug or launch) at sea; sailors on board. M/S of young people, teenagers and adults waving from railings of liner ship. High angle shot of people making their way over the gangplank and off the ship. M/S of small child, crying and pointing. More of children waving form railings. Three young children, one in a sailor suit and looking rather glum, sitting near a ship funnel. Shot of tug coming alongside the ship - wording on side says ’Marple - Grimsby’. A woman in a raincoat opens a letter or telegram. She is standing with a group of military or naval officers and another woman (looks like it’s raining but I think it’s just scratches on the film). Cut back to the three children on the ship - sailor-suited one looks more perky for a second, then seems about to cry. Pan along ship with front section out of the water almost. M/S of two women in headscarves sitting on the ship. More of people going over gangplank and of tug alongside ship. Sailo
