Released in 1989, “Space Quest 3: The Pirates of Pestulon“ is a Sierra On-line Graphic Adventure Game, and personally, my favorite of the series. It’s not perfect by any means, the graphics haven’t aged wonderfully, the call to adventure is a little weak, and there are more than a few “Well, how was I supposed to know that?“ moments. Despite this, Space Quest 3 is a game I always come back to. The charm of this game is astounding and ever-present. This game’s settings are diverse and creative, ranging from a space-junk freighter to a galactic burger joint. Most of all, this game’s soundtrack (composed by Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg) is phenomenal. Whether it’s the jovial sleaziness of Fester Blatz or the series-defining quality of the opening titles, every single one of these tracks plays a vital role in this grand symphony of a game.
