F3000 International Series - 2001 Round 1 Interlagos (Eurosport_

The Opening Round of the 2001 International Formula 3000 Championship. For the first time in the history of the F3000 Championship (and what would prove to be the only time in the entire 20 year history of the F3000 Championship) an race will take place outside of Europe. The opening round of this season taking place in Interlagos, Brazil, no doubt pleasing Petrobras the Brazilian oil company who sponsored a team in the championship at this point. The front runner in this championship included Justin Wilson and Tomáš Enge driving for the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing, Mark Webber driving for Super Nova, with other front runner drivers including British F3 Champion Antônio Pizzonia, Mario Haberfeld, Giorgio Pantano, David Saelens, Patrick Friesacher, Bas Leinders and Sébastien Bourdais
