MALLARD 75 - The Great Goodbye at Shildon National Railway Museum 2014

On 3 July 1938, the A4 class locomotive Mallard raced down Stoke Bank at 126mph to set a new steam locomotive world speed record - 75 years later, the National Railway Museum has been been marking the 75th anniversary of this with a series of commemorative events. The finale was ’The Great Goodbye’, held at Shildon in County Durham. This was the last time to see all 6 surviving A4s together, before ’Dominion of Canada’ and ’Dwight D. Eisenhower’ returned to their homes in Canada and the United States. I was extremely lucky to get tickets to one of the evening photography sessions, and took this video. I hope you like it.
