“We were so excited to hear that Alain was going to be contributing to our album. His sense of melody is so unique – it felt perfect for this, and I’ve been a fan of his for years. When we heard what he had done over the track, we were so impressed with his performance. We knew he had captured this moment, and this legend!” - James Shaffer
“Singing on “Triangle” with Venera was a real treat. The atmosphere immediately inspired and guided the melody and mood and I loved exploring to find a resonant vocal quality and imagery. One of my favorite collaborations.“ - Alain Johannes
“In the Triangle video you are under a spell, being devoured, stripped down, inevitably modified by strange technology“ - Samanta Garcia
“Into the circle triangling,” a doom-looped vox narrates. “All we have been is now divided.”
You know you’ve heard these words before. Traced into your brainstem like acid pins.
Each thought fields its own tombstone. You wish you could remember how it felt to live.
“Into the triangle circling,” the vox replies, forming a loop, “All we could lose is now decided.“

James Shaffer and Atlanta-based Chris Hunt converged in early 2022 in Downtown Los Angeles while working on songs for singer Xhoana X. Their kindred interest and backgrounds in dramatic texture, electronics and experimentation inspired an improvisation-based recording process which seeks to explore a sonic universe defined by evolving atmosphere, cinematic noise and select collaborations with other artists.
