Brazilian Cops Raid Rio’s Favelas In Massive Anti-Drug Op On Monday, Rio de Janeiro’s state government dispatched hundreds of police officers to combat organized crime in three low-income neighborhoods controlled by the Red Command drug trafficking group. Rio officials said on X that 1,000 officers participated in the raid. Local media G1 reported that two police helicopters took fire and were forced to the ground. The state government released footage of seized materials, which included approximately 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of cocaine paste, along with over 500 kilograms of marijuana and synthetic drugs.
