Roosevelt Addresses Congress Aka Roosevelt Asks For War Against Japan (1941)

Unused / unissued material - dates unclear or unknown. Washington DC, United States of America (USA). MS. American President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressing Congress. He says: Yesterday December 7th 1941 a date which will live in infamy, USA was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. US was at peace with that nation and at the solicitation of Japan was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking towards the maintenance of peace. In the Pacific the attack yesterday has caused great damage to American naval and military forces and I regret to tell you that many American lives have been lost. American ships have been torpedoed on the high seas. No matter how long it may take to overcome this premeditated invasion the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory (large applause). I ask the Congress to declare that since the unprovoked attack by Japan on Sunday December 7th 1941 a state of war has existed
