Before there were The Chipmunks, there was The Witch Doctor. David Seville (Ross Bagdasarian) had a knack of turning voices recorded at 2X normal in to hit records. He used his own voice as the Witch Doctor and took the song to #1 in 1958. It was the #4 song for the year.
