The third output of this duo, serving as a warm-up for the future album. This record serves as a tantalising appetiser for their upcoming album. This brief offering showcases their continued ability to deliver within the established sonic tapestry they have woven across their previous works. Chthonic opens with a blend of black metal, toned down from their earlier abrasiveness, interwoven with harmonious ambient layers. The EP frequently incorporates purely ambient interludes or short transitions, creating a sense of ebb and flow. The first track and the first half of the second seamlessly flow into a slower, atmospheric section rich with synthesisers, adding a layer of depth and texture. However, on the second half of the second track it slowly derails into a slower atmospheric section brimming with synths. The closing track takes a surprising turn, venturing into a purely keller synth soundscape, a new direction for the project that hints at an exciting evolution in their musical palette. This departure leaves listeners eager to hear how these elements will be incorporated into the forthcoming album.
