SHAMBHALA is the first Nepalese film ever entered in the Competition Section at one of the world’s top film festivals. Notably, SHAMBHALA is the first South Asian film to be selected in Berlinale’s Main Competition after three decades, adding to its groundbreaking legacy.
This film is shot in Upper Dolpo, Nepal (4200 - 6000 Meters Altitude) World’s Highest Human Settlement and it’s a co-production of Nepal, France, Norway, Hong Kong, Turkey, Taiwan, USA, and Qatar.
LOGLINE: In a Himalayan polyandrous village in Nepal, pregnant Pema faces scrutiny as her first husband; Tashi vanishes on the trade to Lhasa. Accompanied by her de facto husband, monk, Karma, she embarks on a journey to find him, evolving her quest into self-discovery and liberation.
