MUSUBI defines itself as a Bugeido: a mix between Japanese Martial Arts & Performing Art. It is based on a fusion between ancient martial arts such as Iai, Kenjutsu, Jojutsu, Karate, Jujutsu, etc., and artistic expression. We had the chance to interview Yui, founder and president of Musubi, and the Grand Master Hiroyuki Yashiro, the founding instructor. Together, we spoke about their unique discipline, Kobudo, the meaning of demonstrations, and how the pandemic changed their practice. Please enjoy!
