Netanyahu airlifted to airport as protesters block roads on ’day of resistance’

Protesters gathered outside Ben Gurion airport on Thursday to disrupt Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s official trip to Rome as part of a “day of resistance”. Netanyahu had to be airlifted to the country’s main international airport in order to avoid the large convoy of cars and protesters that had blocked the roads. The demonstrations are part of ongoing nationwide protests that have been taking place for over two months against Netanyahu and his government’s plan to overhaul the judiciary. The proposed reforms would give parliament the power to override Supreme Court decisions through a simple majority vote, and de facto control over court nominees. It would also limit the court’s ability to overturn unconstitutional legislation Subscribe to our channel: Middle East Eye Website: Follow us on TikTok: @middleeasteye Follow us on Instagram: Like us o
