Menasze Oppenheim & Syrena Rekord Orch. - Sex Appeal, fokstrot z f-mu “Piętro wyżej“ (sung in Yiddish) (Foxtrott from the movie “Upstairs“)(Henryk Wars /Korn, Teuer) Syrena-Electro 1938 NOTE: Prewar Polish hit “Sex Appeal“ was originally sung by Eugeniusz Bodo - who performed it in a woman’s disguise!, in a comedy movie “Piętro wyżej“ (Upstairs). Here it’s a Yiddish version of it performed by Menasze Oppenheim (born 1910). In 1930s Oppenheim was one of the most popular actors of the Jewish film production in Poland. He belonged to the Jewish Section of the prewar Association of Theatrical Authors And Composers in Warsaw. He was fortunate to have survived the Holocaust on the territory of the USSR-occupied part of eastern Poland. After 1945, he emigrated to South America. The date of his death is unknown.
