SDP leader William Clouston blasts the Government as “a shambles“ after the chief inspector of borders and immigration revealed one in four foreign care workers falsify their visas. This comes as ministers face calls to “urgently explain” why a scheme offering visas to Ukrainians fleeing war was shut down and is no longer accepting applications. The Home Office closed the Ukraine family scheme at 3pm on Monday. The decision was among a series of changes to immigration rules set out in a policy document published without warning earlier in the day. It also confirmed a visa extension scheme will close on May 16.
