Zarah Leander talks about about the people of Värmland, Sweden.

“I’ve realised that the people of Värmland are an astonishing kind… because they are a bit bonkers, all of them. Think of Fröding, Selma Lagerlöf, Ferlin (famous Swedish authors/poets, from this region). — And then, mixing in the enchantment from the backwoods of Värmland… I do think, and I hope no one is offended by me saying this, that the Värmlanders are a most interesting and peculiar people. Everyone from Värmland, all of us, has an artistic vein of some kind… it’s strange. And then an incredible optimism and joie de vivre, mixed with the deepest depression - there is nothing lukewarm/dispassionate about the Värmlanders.“
