My 97 BB6 Honda Prelude was acting up for quite some time now but lately its been getting worse by the day. The RPM’s would drop all the way down to 100 or lower, the car would shutter as if it was about to stall then the RPM’s would slowly start to rise back up. At times the vehicle would completely stall. I did some research and it seemed like the FITV had to be cleaned out with some carbon cleaner/throttle body cleaner.
I cleaned out the FITV from all the gunk that had build up inside.
If anyone wants to tackle this fairly easy task, make sure you bleed the coolant by removing the rad cap and opening up the 12mm bleeder screw/bolt thats located on top of the thermostat. Watch the coolant bubble out until there is a steady streamline of coolant coming out of the thermostat bleeder screw then tighten it back up. Start the car and let it warm up and watch for more air bubbles to come out of the rad cap area. Be sure to have some coolant near by as you will most likely have to keep
