Tropical Queensland is bracing for a deluge with heavy rain set to continue as a potential cyclone forms in the Coral Sea.
Flooding rain and storms are forecast for much of the north tropical coast, including Cairns, Townsville and Cooktown.
Hundreds of millimetres of rain is forecast from areas north of Mackay next week.
Overnight, heavy rain and storms hit the state’s south with Hervey Bay recording 95 millimetres - its heaviest downpour in three years.
