MPH Seminar: The Atom in Religion and Philosophy 1: Greek Atomists

(Note: The audio greatly improves later in the lecture) The Greek Philosopher Atomists: The concept of atomism is perhaps 4000 years old, long before the Golden Age of Philosophy in Greece. Atom: That which cannot be divided. Thus indivisible, ’Atom’ became synonymous with Diety. To Pythagoras, this was the Monad. Context: 1961 was the year President Kennedy first took office, in the middle of the Space Race and the Cold War.
