Students’ Day (1928)

Titles read: ’Students’ Day - Glasgow Students hold “Add-a-Penny“ day in aid of Charity.’ Glasgow, Scotland - 1928. This film loosely follows the antics of Big Bull; portrayed by a university student in top hat & tails; w/ round wire-rim spectacles; who runs around the city like some insane Dickensian character. Opens w/ CU Big Bull’s leering face framed in a life ring that says SS Donnybrook; held up by 2 men; he’s smoking a cigar and talking fast. Big Bull watching a liner ship pass at docks. Big Bull in the midst of cattle & workers who are moving the animals along. BB lifted on shoulders of other students; holding a suitcase w/ ’BT USA’ written on it. Wacky parade through streets in pouring rain. Students wearing all sorts of bizarre costumes: clown or jester suits; long beards; cowboys; even a skeleton riding on a horse & holding salute. A wild ring dance in the street. More mayhem. One student even portrays a news cameraman; wearing a safari helmet & turning hand-cranked camera. Group
