Venezuela: Riots in Caracas as blackout strikes again

Police and protesters clashed on one of Caracas’s main roads on Sunday as the country was plunged into darkness again. Avenida Fuerzas Armadas was the scene of rioting, as protesters expressed their anger at Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s handling of recurring blackouts. The crowd burnt tyres and erected barricades before fleeing police and armed government supporters known as ’colectivos’.
