Where Hitler Received His Iron Cross | History Traveler Episode 382

In order to fully understand and appreciate WWII, one has to study WWI. It was in the trenches and battlefields of the Western Front where many of the prominent figures from the Second World War would see combat for the first time which would heavily influence them down the line. This would include Adolf Hitler, who served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment, who would first see action in the Battle of Ypres. It was also here where he would perform an action that would lead to him being awarded an Iron Cross.
