Simone McIntosh - Zur Rosenzeit by Grieg (CSOTW, 15th June 2023)

Simone McIntosh performing Grieg’s “Zur Rosenzeit“ during the Song Prize Final of the 2023 Cardiff Singer Of The World competition. The Canadian mezzo won the best mezzo-soprano of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and the 2022 Igor Gorin Memorial Award. She spent the 2022/23 season as member of Opernhaus Zürich’s International Opera Studio. As well as performing on the mainstage in Zürich, she appeared with San Francisco Opera, Teatro Nuovo and Vancouver Opera, where roles included the title roles in La Cenerentola and Hansel and Gretel, Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), and Dorabella (Così fan tutte) among others. Simone’s concert work includes recitals in the Richard Bradshaw Free Concert Series, Schwabacher Recital Series, Toronto Summer Music Festival and Songfest, with repertoire including Messiaen’s Harawi, and Respighi’s Il tramonto.
