In ’Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn’, performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach, Jesus, on his way to Jericho, is asked by a blind man for help. The blind man sees the true nature of ’God and David’s son’, while onlookers remain blind to this fact. This cantata was composed together with ’Jesus nahm zu sich die Zwölfe’ as an application piece for the position of cantor at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.
