Mrs Murgatroyd and Mrs Winterbottom (Jean Allistone and Rene Roberts). Pathe Studio, London. Two women - the wives of the comic characters ’Murgatroyd and Winterbottom’ - meet on a set of a street and engage in crosstalk and insults. Jean Allistone is the wife of Tommy Handley (Mr Murgatroyd) - could Rene Roberts be the wife of Ronald Frankau (Mr Winterbottom)? This sketch follows the same pattern as their husbands’ sketches together (see separate records) - lots of crosstalk and insults!
