If you enjoy the content and we receive a lot of likes, we may consider releasing more parts of the song for you to enjoy. •ABOUT THE ALBUM/SONG• Butterfly marked a pivotal moment in Barbra Streisand’s career as her then-partner, Jon Peters, assumed a more significant role in her music and film ventures, serving as the producer for the project. This shift didn’t go unnoticed, with gossip columns and entertainment pundits quick to weigh in on the matter. In June 1974, newspapers buzzed with reports that Jon Peters would produce Barbra Streisand’s upcoming album slated for a September release. The album, featuring a mix of ’50s classics and new material, was set to showcase a cover designed by Peters himself. Initially, Streisand proposed a list of show tunes for the album, which failed to excite. Together with Jon, they curated fresh material over the ensuing months. The initial song selection, including hits like “You Light Up My Life“ by Carole King and “On Broadway“ by Leiber and Stoller, didn’t pan out as expected. However, Streisand revisited some of these tracks in later years, such as recording Bernard Ighner’s “Everything Must Change“ for her 1997 album, Higher Ground, and finally releasing “You Light Up My Life“ on her 2021 album, Release Me 2. Recording sessions for the rest of the album occurred in March and July 1974. While Streisand initially attempted to record “Everything Must Change“ for Butterfly in the summer of 1974, the song didn’t make the cut for the album.
