Russian navy tests hypersonic Zircon missile on target in Barents Sea During the Zapad-2025 strategic exercises, the frigate Admiral Golovko successfully launched a Zircon hypersonic missile at a simulated enemy naval target in the Barents Sea, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported. Real-time monitoring confirmed the target was destroyed by a direct hit. The strike was part of a broader Northern Fleet operation involving diverse forces against a mock adversary. The MoD added that the drills also practiced defending coastal facilities and garrisons, and commanding mixed force groupings, including the integrated use of precision, advanced, and modern weapons systems.
