Altocumulus Undulatus Developing in Virginia

Wave clouds were seen forming over Virginia on March 7, 2019, from the GOES East satellite. These mid-level clouds are called altocumulus undulatus and usually form about 7,000 to 22,000 feet in the atmosphere. The colors in this satellite imagery allow us to identify different types of clouds and land features.
