Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Thermaikos, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located 25 km away from the city center of Thessaloniki. The municipal unit includes the village of Mesimeri, with a combined population of 10,810 (2011). The municipal unit Epanomi has an area of km2, and the community Epanomi has an area of km2.
