Maxim Shalygin “Severade“ backstage [chapter: transportation]

Severade is a III chapter in Shalygin’s macro-cycle for a lifetime ’S I M I L A R’. It is a piece for 9 cello players & 25 newly designed instruments by Rob van den Broek. It was commissioned by the Cello Octet Amsterdam with the financial support of Fonds Podiumkunsten and Dioraphte Foundation. This is one of the backstage short films created by Maxim Shalygin that focus on the process of instruments creation from the very beginning to the premiere that took place on 11th April 2021 at the TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht, NL). Sadly this happened without audience at the time, because Covid19 regulations did not allow that. Dutch radio NPO Radio 4 will broadcast the premiere performance on 6 May 2021 at 20:00. Severade will tour from the fall of 2021.
