Bane’s career night leads Grizzlies to Game 5 win over Lakers

The Memphis Grizzlies kept their season alive with a stunning 116-99 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies, who trailed 3-1 in the series, showed no signs of giving up as they dominated the Lakers from start to finish at the FedExForum. They led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter and never let the Lakers get closer than 15 points in the second half. Desmond Bane was the star of the night for the Grizzlies, scoring a career-high 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting, including four 3-pointers. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists. Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. added 22 points and 10 rebounds each, while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 18 points and four steals. The Lakers, who had a chance to close out the series and advance to the second round, struggled to find their rhythm on offense and defense.
