PD 09a – Launch of the GPMB Pandemic Risk Report

This event will introduce the new Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) Pandemic Risk Report to high-level policymakers and media, including its key findings and recommendations. The COVID-19 pandemic took the world by surprise. But with many environmental challenges and new crises unfolding, it is expected that the number and pace of outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics will increase in the future. To be better prepared, it is now more important than ever to understand the drivers of epidemic and pandemic risk and implement interventions to mitigate this risk. Based on its Monitoring Framework, which relies on the well-known „STEEP Framework“ GPMB has assessed the impact of Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental and Political drivers of the global risk of epidemics and pandemics.
