Ensemble Odoia (with Polikarpe Khubulava)- Asho Chela ( )

Members of the third generation Ensemble Odoia performing with the group’s original founder 91 year old Polikarpe Khubulava, singing and playing the four-stringed, fretless Georgian lute called the chonguri. Recorded July 2014 in Zugdidi, Georgia Mingrelian is a South Caucasian language closely related to Laz and Georgian. It is spoken by the Mingrelian population of the Western Georgian region of Samegrelo. Asho Chela is a traditional Mingrelian lament about a ploughman trudging behind his two bulls, Chela and Buska.
