Russian forces have been repeatedly accused of stealing grain from Ukrainian farmers in occupied areas as well as other crops such as sunflower seeds, along with fertiliser and agricultural equipment. The UN is warning of famine in Africa and the Middle East because of the disruption to supplies from Ukraine, which is one of the world’s biggest wheat producers. Moscow denies accusations of theft, but Russian installed authorities have been found to be issuing decrees saying they are “nationalising” Ukrainian grain.
