Giga Wing 2 Score Attack Stage 7 - quintillion points (Short Scale Numerical Notation)

This attack run was recorded on October 29, 2007. I remember I was hitting this game hard for a solid two months after I had bought a Dreamcast off of one of my co-workers. Somewhere early within that time I had also acquired an old S-VHS VCR so I could record gameplay footage in all analog glory (as I didn’t/don’t trust a DVD-R’s capacity to record all those bullets and medals without artifacting, which mine did). Not long ago 1/6th of this score was called ’the highest video game score ever recorded’ by the Guinness Book of World Records, much to my surprise and praise from my peers, and a little embarrassment to the shmup community, which prompted me to tackle the game again in order to put up a more reputable score. While this new score can still be considered astronomical, ’The Highest Video Game Score’ has since been surpassed by Mr. Rodrigo Lopes of Brazil (on this same Score Attack), Tom Duncan (on a different game entirely), and possibly Todd Rogers (on the same said different game entirely; I need to find out what happened on that run). I, too have beaten this score since was in the month of practice before Funspot X when I decided to switch planes on a hunch. Unfortunately, the run wasn’t recorded and the high score still haunts me to this day. It wasn’t as high as Mr. Lopes, but it brings me hope that I can still surpass my best efforts.
