Psithurism

“Psithurism” instrument, music, and performance by Cris Forster. Like Chrysalis I (1975–1976), Chrysalis II (2013–2015) has two sides, or two circular soundboards, and 82 strings on each side. The wheel, which sits on the crest of a wave-like stand, may be freely spun in either direction. Compared to Chrysalis I, Chrysalis II has thicker and larger soundboards, longer strings, and a wider resonator between the two soundboards. Both instruments are tuned in just intonation.
