Chopsticks Competition (1962)

Bognor Regis, West Sussex. At Butlin’s Holiday Camp we see several shots of people sitting at a table in a chopsticks competition; a crowd is gathered around the outdoor table and an Oriental / Chinese man bangs a gong to start the contest. The contestants try to eat their Chinese food from little bowls as quickly as possible, without much success! A boy watching in the crowd licks his lips greedily. One man chases an egg around the grass with his chopsticks, another gives up and takes two wooden spoons from his pocket to eat with. A different man holds the bowl beneath his mouth and eats straight from it. Note: for search purposes - Butlins. Commentator says ’Clacton’, but the notes on file say ’Bognor’. Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV. IT’S FULL OF GREAT DOCUMENTARIES, FASCINATING INTERVIEWS, AND CLASSIC MOVIES.
