Nave Gurudasya/Falta di Karta/Labaremú: feat. Mû Mbana

I met master musician and griot Mû Mbana once. After singing together one warm, dark night in Barcelona, we decided that I was to ever return to the country, we would try to sing together again. This, is that take. “Nave Gurudasya“ is a song written by Sant Tukaram in the 17th century. It speaks of the angst of living in a materialistic world with a mind that seeks to surpass such concerns. The poet sings of struggle to keep afloat in the ocean of samsāra, or family-life. Mû, a master musician from Guinea-Bissau, sings of things past and present as he plays the Simbi.
