Israel’s C-Dome, Naval Version of Iron Dome, Destroys “Suspicious“ Target in First Deployment

A ship-mounted version of Iron Dome missile defence system, C-Dome, intercepted a “suspicious“ target that entered Israeli airspace on April 8. The IDF said the incident marked the first-ever operational use of the C-Dome after it was declared functional in November 2022. Clips posted to social media showed two interceptor missiles being launched from the defence system mounted on a Sa’ar 6-class corvette. IDF reported that a “suspicious“ target entered the country’s airspace near the southern city of Eilat. The Israeli Navy said it tracked the target before successfully shooting it down with the C-Dome system.
