Cymbidium rescue & re-pot! Dividing and re-potting a massive old Cymbidium plant from an old garden!

This week Plant Lovers: Orchid Rescue! Yes, a friend called as she was winding up the estate of a distant relative and before the house went to market wanted me to rescue some old potted Cymbidiums! Now - winter is NOT the best time to divide or re-pot Cymbidiums as they are busy producing their flower spikes, but as you can see in this video, one of the plants I found was in a smashed pot and in dire need of a rescue! So in this video I’ll show you how I went about dividing the old plant into new viable pieces, what to do with the old still alive but leafless back-bulbs and how I re-potted it. Needless to say it was a MAMOTH task I say make a GREAT case for using plastic pots for Cymbidiums! This is the mycorrhizal fungi brand I use, but you can certainly use whatever brand is easiest for you to get where ever you are:
