Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 fighter captured in Italy during WWII after the pilot René Darbois defected to the Allied airfield at Caserta, Italy. This Bf 109 fighter is now in the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. According to original Signal Corps metadata, the captured fighter was filmed at Santa Maria Airport, Italy on July 26, 1944. Original number marking was “Yellow 4“.
